The single-story building at 449 South Broad Street is where Hamilton Avenue ends, and some of Trentons most pioneering ventures have started. The property underwent extensive renovations in the late 1990s, and opened just before the new Millennium as the beloved, art-infused Urban Word Cafe. A variety of dining concepts followed, as well as the 449 Room bar and live music venue.

In 2011, more than a decade after Urban Word Cafe paved the way, Trenton Social opened its doors and instantly became a gathering place for the capital city.
